The exhaust sounds like its blowing when pulling away and when it revs....... Iv replaced the gasket from the down pipe to the cat but i have had the bonnet up and noticed when you rev it its blowing from the manifold as the engine rock, could the manifold be f**ked or do you think putting a new manifold gasket on would cure it? it sound rough and getting worse. I have another manifold to fit i need be but id rather not try and undo the down pipe. Its a 1.1 by the way. Any help would be appreciated.
106 not saxo but same thing

#2crack in the manifold or gasket
-
#3Not wanting to sound obvious here but can you see fumes leaking from any particular area of the manifold.

#4I cant see them i can smell them strong around the manifold which in theory points out its leaking from thaat area but all i can think is the gasket issnt sealing but if the manifold is tight to the head it shouldnt leak...?

#5Its could be the manifold to downpipe joint. You might see a telltale carbon smear. Have you checked all the nuts are nipped up?

#6there might be a leak or a crack in the mani

#7It will if the gasket needs replacingQuote:I cant see them i can smell them strong around the manifold which in theory points out its leaking from thaat area but all i can think is the gasket issnt sealing but if the manifold is tight to the head it shouldnt leak...?

#8All the nuts are tight and i cant see any carbon its weird it sounds nice when ticking over then soon as the engine move it sounds like a tractor. Just had a thought my old 106 the down pipe had a crack in it and was caused by the bolt that goes into the gearbox falling out and as the engine moved the crack opened up but you couldnt see it until it was off, i shall be removing it tomorrow and checking thats not the problem. Is that a rare problem then??

#9No not if the bolt has fallen out or an engine mount has got play in it causing the engine to move and weaken the downpipe so it cracks.
