Starter motor still engaged

   I started my car this morning and it has developed a loud screeching noise (constant) So a mechanic had a look at it and apparently the starter motor isn't disengaging. Basically i need to know if i could take it off and clean it. Or will i need a new one? cheers.

   yeah take it off spray a load of brake cleaner and blow it out then pull out the gear and grease it all up did this on my vtr no problem for bout 6 months now

   lol its funny really i bought the vtr on saturday for a cheap runaround. And its already developed a fault, Never buying a french car again. Getting my golf back on wednesday!
