power steering?

   hi ive not driven my car for a few weeks due to mot running out just been starting the engine a few times and letting it tick over anyway went to turn the car around today to do a few little jobs and the steering is very heavy it was much lighter than this last time any ideas?

   Give the power steering pump a tap with a hammer,also check the charging rate of the battery/alternator should be 14volts.

   when just the ignition is on the steering feels very light but when the engine is on it is much heavier its got fluid and there are no leaks ill try tapping it tomorrow see if that makes a difference
