Alternator Help Pics added**

Thought I was going to have an easy time swapping my alternators over but when i went to undo the big bolt at the top it snapped, now i dont have a clue on how to get it off,

Any ideas and how much do you think it would cost me to get it sorted at a garage.

how much of the bolt is showing? is there enough room to get some grips on it. if not can you tap it round and with a small punch and a hammer? if not, could drill a small hole and get it out with an extractor set

Theres none of it showing its snapped in the thread,

i got about the first 3cm from the top of the bolt, I was looking at trying to drill it out then just re tap it but there is just no space in the engine bay to do anything,

What you reckon a garage will charge to do this?

    Thanks

yeah get a pic. if worst comes to worst and you cant fit anything in the space, then it might be an option to remove the headlights, front bumper, grill and slam panel to get to it. i know thats incredibly long and annoying but just a thought.
id take it to a garage before doing all that as they might have something up there sleeve.

undo the engine mount on that end of the engine and it improves access through the wheel arch with a drill

Sorry about the quality its dark and its my iphone,

Its due MOT in a week and i don't know how well its going to do, so i might chuck it at that before i spend any real money on it, I just managed to get the alternator really cheap.

    Thanks for the help =]

This happened to me with my lower engine mount. Could you jack the car take wheel off, take the side plate off. Then weld a nut onto the end of the bolt and get it off that way. If the bolt is sheared below the side of the alternator build up the end of the bolt with weld till you can weld the nut on.
