springs snapped

Hi there, first off thanks for reading.....
I've got a saxo vtr(2001)and i've got a slight problem with the front end/driver's side shocker/spring snapped near the top

i've had a look on europart an a new spring(original) is £49 but for an extra £8 they do a full set of "apex" lowering spring's(in diffrent size's)im looking at getting 35mm spring's,what sort of price would i be looking at paying a garage to fit them for me or is it a pretty easy job to do,also are apex spring's any good?

    thanks!!

The springs are good. Lowering is fairly easy if you have the tools to do it.
Just remember its torsion bar on the back and they can be a right pain

Not to sure about Apex but I had G-maxx before, budget lowering springs, ride quality was shit, and stiff, then I upgraded to Spax, ALOT more comfy on the roads

Fitting wise its a easy job, if you have experience with working with springs and shocks before, if not then don't bother, take them to a garage, they'd probly charge around £50 to fit.

yep i know about the torsion bar,i think it'll be going in to a garage because i just dont have the room to do it in my "sh#ty small" garage

if i change the springs to lower it 35mm will i have to change the damper as well to match?

Its easy, strut off, get a spring compressor, compress spring, take spring orf, put new spring on. You can do it on the kitchen table. Nobody has experience the first time they do anything

I have plenty of springs kicking about from lowering peoples cars, if you're local i dont mind fitting a s/h replacement. Or come to think of it... if you need the car lowered then give me a shout on here or through my website

If you dont have one then you can buy one, it might not have accurred to you? I dont know how many people have been killed by spring compressors, but garage bills kill you a little
