engine conversion

This may of already been covered but i was just wondering what sort of engines people put in saxo's instead of a standard one.
do mi16's go in easy enough or not. some one mentioned a xsara vts engine???????

    cheers.

A vts engine into vtr's etc... other than that alot more hassle than its worth. If your gonna spend the money cam and turbo a vts or something
  3. #3
ah rite fair enuf. i av a vts already with sum mods on it. seen turbos on cituninguk website but seem abit xpensive really.
    nevermind cheers for the help

VAG turbo lumps have been done - Depends how much time/effort/talent/money your willing to put in
  5. #5
only SAXO engines fit in to SAXOS the clues in the name lol

sorry onnly taking the piss, other engines do fit in eg 306 gti-6, but after all the custom parts have been made and time pissing around fitting it, you could have speant the money modifying a vts engine and would end up with more bhp, if you do want mi 16 power then you need another 50 or so bhp on top of the standard 120bhp, this is possible with cams, breathing mods and a remap, will cost about a grand and will have similar power but hell of a lot easier to carry out, im not saying these mods will definitely give you the mi16 power but believe me you'll be happy with the outcome whatever the bhp figure is

A friendly word of warning but text shorthand is not allowed on this forum.

As for engine swaps people have fitted XU engines such as the MI16 and Xsara VTS in the past. It is not a strait fit and does require some fabrication but can be done.

anything can be done but bear in mind saxos handle the way they do thanks to a lightweight engine up front, don't think something as heavy as either of the engines you mentioned are going to help it

cheers jeffchiz, i have the mods that you mentioned on it already so i guess the only way forward is a turbo.
not sure what the bhp figure is though. know of any good places to get it done in the northwest?

He didn't make the rules up! He's just enforing them, rules are rules, if you dont like them then dont be on the site. The reason is because it's f**king anoying to read, and i persoanlly haven't used text talk since i was about 15. If you write in clear english it's much easier to communicate faster

after breathing mods, cams remap etc the next step is either throttle boddies or boost

with your mods throttle bodies would suit it perfectly, brand new you can get a bolt on kit for about £600-1000 and about £300 again to get the ecu mapped again, for about £500 you can get the predator ecu , which is the cheapest aftermarket ecu, mapping is incuded in the price and plugs straight in to your original loom, a lot of ecus require a connecting loom and mapping isnt included
what cams have you got? and which other mods you got mate?

Chill out knob I'm only saying! Yeah it might be annoying to read but when I read the terms and conditions it never said anything about not being able to use text talk. I haven't ever used text talk (even as a teenager as predictive text was king lol) but people do use it and you can't discriminant because YOU find it annoying! Sometimes people don't have alot of time to write in full because they might be using the forum in work/college. And if you do find it annoying don't get stressed out, just click away from the thread...simple solution, and alot better for your health

Lmao! I stand corrected it does say no text talk and I do apologise for the rank. However, there is one rule I'm not happy about but won't go into that on this thread

Text talk is for Chavs and Children and its fucking annoying
I refuse to help anyone who cannot speak in propper English
You were not taught to speak in 'text talk' at school so I see no reason why people do it online.
In fact, I would imagine it pissed most people off on the forum

im not sure of the make of the cams or the exhaust as they were fitted before i bought it and before the previous owner so he couldnt tell me either..

    4-1 manifold
    decat exhaust system
    remap
    cituning enclosed induction kit

    just hit 90k :-(
what sort of bhp gains are we looking at for throttle bodies or is it hard too say?
think its going to get quite expensive for anymore mods. cheers for the help though i can keep it in mind for the future.

    sorry about the shorthand text.
  17. #17
yea it does piss MOST people off not just ME, as devil said it makes you look like a chav, and if you can type properly, it takes no time at all to write full words

anyway you know now, it's all good

the mods sound good mate, the only real way to find out is to get in rolling road'd, just google dynos near you, costs about £30 to find out, just service your car before hand give it a better start as you can if you make about 120-130 you know its not cammed if its over 130bhp id say its cammed

The reason text talk isn't allowed is because not just english people use this site and for them, text talk would be abbreviating words they find hard to understand and therefore wouldn't be able to translate.

I have found an old rolling road read out which states 134bhp @ 6592rpm apparently this was done before certain mods but not sure which mods were on it at the time. downside to getting a car with bits done already.
what would you reccomend service wise? oil, plugs leads ect??

    thanks for the help
