#3Saxos hate the cold - FACT

#4i was thinking the icv i might give it a good clean. Is there a temp sensor i could check?
-
#5I`ve got the same problem on a vtr have changed the coolant temperature sensor(green 1 on the thermostat housing)still no better mechanic said to me it could be the Map sensor or more probably the lambda sensor because it has its own heating element which breaks down. Also i`ve cleaned the ICV thats working fine though.

#6ive changed the map sensor and no better. Im going to clean the icv and if that doesn't work im gonna change the lambda sensor. Did changing the coolant temperature sensor help at all?

#7Strange thing with the coolant temp sensor is,is that i`ve still got a rough idle/misfire but the temperature guage now sits 1/2 way up instead of being 3/4 of the way up(its French)Quote:ive changed the map sensor and no better. #8Ive never had a problem with over heating so might leave the temp sensor. Ive had a compresion test and had new spark plugs so all thats left is icv and lambde sensor. Is it just saxos that have all these faults?

#9Surely has to be ICV mate, changing a temp sensor would not make much difference as it takes a few minutes to even pick up a recording..
Try that mate -
#10cool do you no how much a new icv is?
-
#11just give it a clean
there is an easy to follow guid on here about it ;D

#12Changng my coolant temp sensor has made a difference to my saxo the temp guage now sits at 1/2 way instead of 3/4,but the shaking has not stopped though.Today I bought and fitted a new lambda sensor so will see in the morning what the car is like.Quote:Surely has to be ICV mate, changing a temp sensor would not make much difference as it takes a few minutes to even pick up a recording..
Try that mate

#15Brilliant steve i need too replace mine as it looks like it snapped in half and previous owner has tape it back if this goes dodgey (best way to describe it) can it cause the engine management light to come on? as it says in the owner manual it comes on when emmisions ect are out ectect.. not in them words but round abouts?Quote:Thats the 1 mate, although some saxo`s have 2 lambda sensors.(for improved emmissions)
Steve.
Many thanks Dan -
#16Yes a faulty lambda sensor will make the EML light come on.

#17Thanks mate all sorted will have to quote up a new one cheers bud

#18well im cleaning the icv tomorrow so will tell you if it works. I might take the lamdba sensors out and give them a clean to. Ive got a lot of rust on my catalytic converter so might see if that needs replacing while im at it. I'll try get a quote from some were.

#19ive just cleaned the icv and the body up. gave it a drive round the block its not holding the reves like before so might of solved the problem. the next big thing is to see if it stopes the shaking from cold.

#20ok started the car up this morning after cleaning the icv and same thing car shakes and misfires. any other suggestions?
