removing headlights on a phase 2

    Hola,

I have read many a tutorial on here in regards to this, the one thing I can't seem to find an answer for is the plastic surround just below the light itself. It seems to be clipped in on the right hand side with a white clipping mechanism, I don't want to risk pulling at it and snapping it. I'm assuming you can't remove the headlights properly without moving this bit out the way, correct?

For the plastic trim its attached with 2 white clips on the one side and one clip on the other. You have to remove the trim to get to the other bolts to remove the headlight. The clips are very flimsy so just gently try to remove the headlight trim with your hands moving the trim away from the body, theres not really an art to it, just luck. But if the clips break theyr only a few pennies from citroen and simples to replace

try using a screwdriver wrapped in a teatowel to gently pop them off. difficult to do it without snapping any clips though. good luck!

Oh, also....was reading in the FAQ's on this that it's best to reseal the headlights (once I've taken them to bits to spray the inserts) with silicone. Any particular make best for this?

Personally when i did mine there was enough of the original sealant left on the edge of the headlights and on the edge of the glass to push the two back together.

Was thinking it'd probably be best to remove all original sealant and replace it with good quality silicone tbh, negating moisture getting inside the casing and so on.

You can just do it after and hold on with cable ties John

Done 2 sets now and both have been fine using the original. Just made sure it was spread even and as said, cabled tied together until resealed

Ok, thanks for the info lads. Done quite a few bits to the car now and doing some bigger changes at the end of the month (tax rebate due woo!) so will put up a progress thread when it's worthy of peoples attention

Will put one up soon, stuff I've changed out is just bits to get the car to normal again (light bulbs...seat changing handle thingy...removing bits and bobs) so nothing epic, it needs a fucking BIG detailing done to it, it's shiny...ish...but has loadsa swirl marks and crap. I'm a man of high standards so wanna get it right before getting a thread up. Watch this space (in the right section and all that)

I have done the major things to mine and just need to sort out the minor things now, no BIG stuff just like little randoms that could take up time if done altogether!
Defo needs a service LOL, good luck anyway!
