What would it sound like if I ran a straight pipe from the manifold, which has the cat in it straight to the back of the car but without a backbox on the end? Would it be raspy or just poo?
How would no backbox sound?

#5Oh ok lol what about if I ran a straight pipe bypassing the centre silencer out but with standard backbox, would that sound any better than normal?
-
#6i have a supersprint straight through pipe on a standard 1.1 back box on my vts and its quiet ish on idle and sounds raspy, bangs and pops when its warm at higher revs
-
#7getting rid off the cat would sound be better or just buy an aftermarket back box

#8Thanks mate I think that's what i'll do for now i'll just get a straight pipe bypassing the silencer and just use the standard VTR backbox, it sounds nice at high revs now with just the induction kit so I only want it to pop. I wont be getting a manifold until a few months anyways

#9it will probably be louder with a vtr back box as its larger, and it doesnt pop and bang no where near as much compared to if i had the superspirnt back boxQuote:Thanks mate I think that's what i'll do for now i'll just get a straight pipe bypassing the silencer and just use the standard VTR backbox, it sounds nice at high revs now with just the induction kit so I only want it to pop. #10i think id find it very funny at how shit it would sound

about 6 years back i bought a boxless system for my current impreza. that did sound good. kept it for 18months then sold on. it was rediculous fun! i have no idea how it passed an mot. i guess my tester had respect
