    but does the alternator on a 1.4 x reg saxo furio power the power steering?

    had so many different answers on another forum.

    im a novice as you can tell lol

    also how would you know if its on its way out?

    been researching, and seen a few websites that say, start the car for a while, then unplud the battery, and if the alternators fine, it shouldnt cut out. is this right?

    if u think there is something wrong with your alternator, take it to halfords and ask them to do a test on it...its free too

    what iv heard an alternator should be providing power of about 14v

    Yes it should be ,in reply though to the question about the alternator powering the PAS pump well it does but not directly ie on some cars the pas works off a belt however on saxo`s its a relay that operates pas but remember at the same time there has to be a constant voltage of 14v.As said Halfords can check the charging rate for you.
