Important! : vtr bonnet on a forte??

  1. #1
    hiya guys and gals,

ive a 1.1 forte, which i never noticed until recently but they have a diffrent, slightly more curvey bumper then other models.

i would like to install a vtr bumper as they are slightly lower and the grilles can be meshed as well as adding foglights to my car

anyway question is, how diffrent are the fittings and things??? i know the tow loop on the forte is solid but is screwn into a vtr so how will this effect the bumper??

cheers guys any help would be great!!!

a vt front bumper will fit your car although the sides of the bumper flare out due to arches being connected on vt models.

this can be solved by cable ties, just push the flared part in and cable tie it in place iirc

    Exactly as above.

Either cable tie the edge of the bumper in to the non flared arches of your forte, or you can put the whole VTR kit on the car.

As for the tow eye, you can put the vt bumper over the top and it won't touch the existing tow eye, but you wont be able to use the screw hole. If you check my pics, you can see that i use a tow strap in my VT bumper, because I had the same thing with my desire.

seen or got any pics of wat this looks like?? i didnt know they flared :/ how bads the flare??

what do you mean fortes have curvier bumpers? theres only two sorts, flat arch bumpers and vt bumpers

have you ever looked at a vtr/s? lol they have a complete bodykit on them compared to base model

and you can fit fog lights in to your flat arch bumper

nah i know i can, the forte front bomper grille is curved round were as the vtr front bumper grille has a more definitive line around the grille which makes it easier to mesh. ive found one in the right colour and jw how easy it would be to fit.

you can see in this pic where ive lost my drivers arch,

and in this pic you can see the bumper sticking out where the arch should meet it

so is there quite a large gap thats left then??
  9. #9
well yea, sticks out at least 10mm, but loads of people fit vt bumpers on to flat arches
this is my housemates flat arch with a vtr bumper on as already mentioned you use cable ties to bring the corners in

so wered you tie it??? drill a line of holes in bumper and bottom of wing and cable tie them ????

How much do u think a full vtr kit would cost?

if i decided to go with a full kit, is it even possible to get a kit for a 5 door

the front bumper, front arches and sideskirts would look good on a 5 door. the rear bumper also fits on fine but the rear arches will have to be fitted and the rear arches and the door panels need cutting and chopping a few people have done it

are the sideskirts a direct fit are they?? will they be the same length on a 5door as on the 3 door?? whole kit seems like a lot of work as i wont be able to afford to spray it and i really dont like half job mods. i could get sides and bumper in right colour but a whole kit would need to be new.

how do i tie the bumper round??

if i decide against any of this, as a back up, can u remove the black lower strip from a vtr bumper?? this way i can use it to lower my bumper a lil bit
  17. #17
the black part of the vtr bumper is part of the bumper lol it cant be removed and yea the sideskirts fit on fine the cars are the same length, if you just want a splitter then fit something like a laguna splitter which millions of people have done to their 106's/saxos lol

like i said you can just fit the front bumper arches and sideskirts, much easier than fitting the whole kit and you could get the bits in the same colour as your car so nothing would need painting

and not 100% sure on where to cable tie it, but once you've fitted the bumper shouldn't be to hard to find somewhere to cable tie it
