cutting out

just wondering if anyone has any idea's?

for some reason the possitve connection on the battery came off, after re connecting it and starting my car it kept cutting out on idle, to keep it going i had to press the throttle slightly and keep it at at least 1000rpm. if i let off it would just cut out again, i ended up driving around for 10 minutes and that seem to solve it. my car is re maped so is it something to do with that? reset the ecu or something?

    cheers!

If the batteries off for long enough it does reset the ECU, think it needs to be at least ten minutes though. Might be dirty sensors not helping it too.

happened to me turned out to be a dodgy lambda sensor and my idle control valve isnt perfect, from looking on here and seeing other peoples suggestions it could also be a coil pack or the injectors although its far more likely to be the sensor or the icv.

well it did take 10 minuets before it worked again so hopefully it was that. its never done it again and it runs sweet so hopefuly it wont be any of the other things suggested.

    thanks!

He said that the ECU has to be disconnected for at least 10 mins before it will reset. That is a different thing from driving for 10 mins before it goes normally.

that says if the battery is off for long enough, nothing about disconnecting the ecu,
it reset its self after 10mins of it running above 800rpm

sorry about the bump, but what does reseting the ecu actually do?

hear it all time but not sure what its supposed to do.
