1999 vtr,cutting out

    hi,ive got a 1999 vtr and it has a problem which i cant understand can anyone help?? well the car drives normal but feels very slugish (im mean it got beaten by a 1.1 nissan micra so its not running rite) and sumtimes just randomly cuts out on me just losses all power and dies,it then doesnt start first time and i have to wait about 5mins before it fires up,i had this problem ages ago but found out it was tesco fuel that caused the problem,but i now run optimax and had no trouble until now,it cuts out just under quarter of a tank petrol,but sumtimes when ive driven it a mates house and then leave bout 5mins after it starts then dies straight away i now havent a clue whats up with it?? i has a decat pipe on it and it neva dune this before hand so could that be the prob or is the any other options?

    now an update,i now have a burning smell coming from the fuse box inside the car,its a yellow relay at the front left side??? does any1 know what this realay is for???

    Maybe Idle Control Valve !!
