Failed mot on emissions

well basically im carless this weekend

anyways took car for mot on fri
it passed on everything appart from the emissions,

but ive had a brand new cat on 2 months old, and a brand new full stainless system
and it failed on every emission test,

what can i do?

thinking about dodgey mot

ive had a new lamba sensor aswell, well just the plug to the bit where it screws into the cat,

When was it last serviced ie air filter?

not sure tbh, it does have a kn air filter on it though so im guessing thats not helping

Mine failed on the same, i had a new lambda sensor and cat that got me through it, you fit them yourself?

have you tried putting some injector cleaner through it and take it for a good run before hand and then see what happens,

apart from that a good service would make a big difference.

narh i might have to do it, but my emissions was quiet high tbh
but yeh ill rebook it and flush it through with that stuff, and pray it works

Mine were proper high and when he put some cleaner through they dropped by a third, but it was still just over so i had to bite the bullet and have a new cat etc,

yeh im going to flush them through and maybe put a rag at the backbox to stop some, but they can do one if they want to replace anything its all brand new

If you have a new lambda and CAT, it should pass an emissions test easily. I would give it a good service inc. filters and plugs. Check the exhaust is completely airtight. Also, make sure you get the exhaust nice and hot before the MOT.

the emissions when up after the 3min running

its airtight, i dont get it tbh, system costed me like 400 so i really dont get it

Yeah something like engine stop smoke its called put it in the petrol tank take the car for a run leave the car running at the MOT test station & get them to re-test the emissions.

Sorry I'm pretty sure you're supposed to put "engine stop smoke" in the oil, cause I've worked with it before. If you do use it it is really thick stuff so put it in a tub of boiling water for a while

Surely these 'stop smoke' and similar products are just covering up an underlying issue here?

Give the car a full service inc filters and plugs and see how it is then.

Just checked you add it to your oil so I was wrong was probably thinking of Redex.

how could i get my co emissions down like 5% ive got some redex, but what else ot bring it down, re-test is tomorrow

my mates failed on this so he got some redex and the m.o.t tester put it in but he put a whole bottle in and he only had 1/4 of a tank of petrol so it passed real easy but after the test he he to basicly run all the petol threw the system and fil it up again as the redex made the car really slugish
