my vtr is one of those horrible ones with the cat in the manifold. decided to make a run for it today and break right on the seam between the cat and the pipe.

anyone know if it can be welded up short term until i get a replacement? i kinda need the car but dont have £70 to spend on a cat!

If you're welding it, so it's not costing you any money, then weld it.

If you pay someone to weld it, if they're any good they'll know it's pointless and tell you...

If it's not rust that made it snap, then it'll be weldable. If rust made it snap then you won't have much luck lol.

I would say that you have nothing to lose by welding it, it's already broken you can't break it anymore than what it already is!
It should be fine short term, but as you are getting a new cat I would give it a try.

    Indeed!

I welded my 4-1 back together after I snapped it on a Level crossing... It's fine lol.

As long as you can weld, and not blow holes in it.

You will prob find that if your going to weld it yourself make sure you have CAST welding rods.

I would advise you to get someone professional to weld it, you will prob find it will cost you about £20
