Droplinks, track rod ends. Top mounts, wishbone ball joints, bearings theres alot of things it could be!

ive been told by local so called know it alls that its basicaly bottom arms or wishbones and to forget about it because its a common saxo problem, should i not be worrying along those lines and concentrate on the above advise should probably have said too it seems to be coming from passenger side front thanks for reply like within ten minutes.

its more a clunk than a knock i will have to describe things more accurately
  5. #5
Ignore it because its a common problem? Thats nonsense...why ignore a problem just because saxo's get it alot!

If you leave it it will only get worse and if its was the wishbones then its a problem thats putting you in danger with continuous wear.

Basically check the rubbers on the ball joints of the drop links and track rod ends, its usually these thats are the problem. Also anything that moves with the steering wheel All pivot points/ ball joints etc. Give them a tug or look for worn rubbers.

ive got a similar thing, mynes caused by the cv joints wearing out, i ignored it for a while but it suddenly become dangerous, like the steering wheel vibrates BADLY when u put ur foot down and it makes really bad screeching noises wen ever u turn as it puts pressure on the joint, get it sorted asap mate cus it can effect other things, like tyres, and ur drive shaft

thanks for all the advise guys, ive no idea where to start looking,i had the continuous clunk, clunk, clunk on my last saxo (vts)when putting on some lock turned out to be cv joints but this with the vtr is intermitent its just a single clunk now and again theres no vibration or pulling off to the sides on the steering i meen it just tracks straight,if i sit at a stand still and turn the wheel a bit left then right a few times it seems to do it more that when moving which then like i said is intermitant it might do it 23 times the whole journey im gonna start with d b_sax`s advice and go from there.

i meant 2 to 3 times er journey i cant type soz.

dannys right dont leave a problem it only get worse i'd put money on its either the droplinks or the track rod ends, ive had both these go a few time on my old saxo due to it being down 60/80 and putting so much strain on them

just a small question if you dont mind, are the drop links the long thin items with like a track rod end sort of thing on each end?
  14. #14
drop links are the long thin things as you put it and the the track rod ends are the bits that go off the steering arms to the suspension

    thanks mate.
