Oil Level

   I checked my oil level yesterday and It was half way between the max and min mark on the dipstick, I thought it needed to be at the max mark.
   
   But my mate told me yesterday that its only supposed to be in the middle of the 2 marks , like it was, and hes tellling me ive put too much oil in.
   
   Anyone confirm this?

   dont listen to your mate lol, oil is meant to be on max

   i was told on my driving test that its best to have it halfway

   oil is meant to be somewhere between the two lines....I like to keep mine above 75% full but never 100% as it gives me a safety margin incase it overfills due to the crap uneven roads.

   I always run cars half way between max and min...

   my bad then, could have sworn it has to be on max lol. iv always kept all my cars oil topped up to max, that way i know if im losing any

   overfilling can do more harm than not having enough oil, so i keep safe at halfway.

   You'll know if you're loosing any if it's half way, because it'll go below half way lol.

   People have it on all different levels.

    well ive just checked mine,
    
    Cold is on about 85% on a scale from low mark to high mark
    then i did a drive and came home let it cool down checked it again and its on about 98% now. :\

    Make sure you're on level road.
