This is the whole event.
First there was a rapid clicking clonking noise in reverse. Then a similiar but different noise started happening in all forward gears. I parked on my drive way, came back to the car to reverse and couldnt get it into gear or any other gear for that matter. Call the AA and the breakdown told me it was stuck in gear. He played with the linkage abit no luck tried turning on the engine and clang clang clange (Quote AA man) "Humm that dosnt sound good"
(Me quote) "No shit".
To the garage on the back on a recovery truck. phone call from the mechanic the next day you need a new gearbox. I managed to find one off ebay 1.1 gearbox (iv got a 1.6vtr but i was told on this very website that would be fine). got it fitted £600ish later fixed.
4 months later i can hear the clicking clocking noise as slowing down. This is happening in ever gear with clutch depressed and released and in neutral
now the noise is happening all the time and the gearstick has flopped over towards the 5th reverse side.
Is the gearbox the problem or something else in the engine? any help welcome please.
I dont want to have to spend another £600 or over £1000 for a new gearbox without labour costs.
