no backbox

   basically i was changing my backbox over and once i had the old backbox off i thought i would fire up my car see what it sounded like it sounded awesome have got straight through centre section on as well i then put my new backbox on and its so quite was wondering if i can just extend the pipe and drive with no backbox will this be bad for the car, I know alot of you will be against the idea but i love the sound it makes.

   You will likely get pulled over by the fuzz and told to put it back on
   I suspect it will fail an MOT
   It will also likely damage the environment (if you care about that)
   Plus im not sure if it will do any damage to the car itself.....im sure someone will come along soon to confirm??
   
   All in all, its a stupid idea
   The backbox is there for a reason

   Must be quite loud! See DB sound test......likely to be too loud! Try a cherry bomb exhaust if you want some good loud deep sound!

   imo it sounds shit.
   But if it what you want then yes you could just extend the pipe all the way back.
   Buddyclub Spec II for the hondas and the like are just this, a pipe all the way back. And are stupidly loud.

   I would buy a cherry bomb exhaust but im broke at the mo and cant afford it and cant be doing with the hassle of welding it on, i was thinking maybe take the baffles out of my backbox i have now to make it a bit louder but not so its deafening.

   I did the same thing, when i was putting my backbox on i went down the street with it of and it was loud,
   you can get a decent backbox these days for next to nothing, i got my powerflow one for 20 quid

   I drove for about 3 weeks without a Backbox or Center Section, I worked next to a police station, they never said a word, and I let it warm up each night before leaving work... It was hell loud, I loved it lol but I had to put it back on because as you'd expect it was flaming loads and burning under my car lol.

    im pretty sure no backbox wont harm the environment. it is illegal though driving without one. if you weld a pipe to extend it the bumper, you probably wont get stopped for no backbox but stopped for being too loud. not sure if it will pass an mot that way either.
    I took mine for a drive with just the manifold and decat with no centre pipe or backbox lol sounded amazing, a HUGE bang every time i changed gear. Sounds a bit like a banger racer though with just no backbox

    Lol, Definitely too loud, but just think how many cars drive about with Backboxes on that are loud if not louder than without lol.

    my old sportex was stupidly loud, measured at 119 DB.

    Mine sounded like a rally car, popped like mad. was taking it easy then a mile from home diverted down a back lane (missing roadworks out) and gave it some beans. think my ears are still recovering!

    As above, get a quality made exhaust with a loud but nice sound, i.e piper, (my fav) kam racing, supersprint or saxsport.

    get a used decent back box so you get a nice note.

    Well, in theory you'd loose power because of lack of back pressure, I found that was the case with my 1.1.
    
    However my VTR didn't seem any different without an exhaust... Just really loud lol.

    i had a twin exhaust (one each side) one of them fell off and that sounded just nice and used to whistle when hit about 3k but i had a cat and also a centre silencer
