VTS into a Furio

  1. #1
Iv searched for a while but need a bit of clarification ,

It seems to be that if im doing this i "Should" upgrade brakes , engine mount , Rad ect but what is the bare minimum jsut to get me up and running to just be able to unbolt engine and bolt in the new one ?

Iv been offered a VTS engine , Unlocked ECU ( 3 Plug same as mine ) and mani ect for a good price, Would this just be a simple swap , Work with my loom , box ect ? THe only thing iv come across that may be a problem doing this is some say the engine mounts are different and that i would need some return line..?

Can anyone clear me up ?

Pretty sure you'll need VTS engine mounts and also VTS Rad and Fan or it will run hot. You can keep the Furio gearbox but I wouldn't personally. Everything should be plug and play if it's the same plug ECU as your Furio. I did this conversion so have a look at my thread if you want to see conversion pics/help etc

Forgot to say, you'll need VTS fuel return pipes as well. These can be bought from Citroen for around £60ish

as bare minimum from what i have read you would need the engine, a unlocked ecu and the loom spliced to your furio interior loom.

Big brakes not essential but worth it as you effectivly double the power of the car it will take alot more to stop, although you can get groved and vented disks for the standard furio/quiksilvers i have seen them on ebay i think...

bigger rad obviously keep it cooler so recommended, return line can be blocked, but causes the car to use more fuel.

Mounting wise they are all bolt in as far as i was aware someone will confirm this but on 106's they are bolt in and go.

Gearbox will work but may be a tad delicate on a VTS engine i know someone running a VTR engine on a quiksilver box and they have had 2 in 18months but the acceleration is awesome.

If he has the same plug ECU nothing has to be spliced, its just plug and play (was with mine anyway)

Big brakes are 100% worth it in my eyes, I just didn't mention it as he said he just wanted to know what was needed to get it running. Suicidal having standard furio brakes and rear drums with 120+hp. I kept the drums and fitted Hi-spec 4 pots.

Whatever you do don't block the fuel return. Just asking for trouble, last thing you want is fuel pissing all over a boiling hot engine bay.

Gearbox wise you want (imo) either a VTS one or a S1 or S2 rallye box for acceleration. I went for the shortest (S1 Rallye) and it's one of the best mods i've done tbh.

    Thanks ,

Are the fuel return pipes easy enough to fit , And if i kept the furio rad until i could afford a VTS or Nissan one would it do any damage.

Fuel return was a bitch tbh, involved dropping the tank etc, well worth doing though. Can't say about the Furio rad cos I never tried it. Even with my VTS rad it was running hot so I bought a Nissens one

Plugs into the Furio one mate, I never changed my tank. Think they are easy enough to fit when the tank is dropped but dropping the tank was a bit of a ball ache iirc.

you will need a vts top engine mount and the overs are okay if your using the same box! but if you use the vts one i think you may have to use vts one not sure but you need the vts top mount!!!
