chalkboarding, how simple is it?

Sorry if this has been asked before, if so just drop me a link to where as I couldn't find one..

But how simple is painting your whole car/chalkboarding it?

E.g. Would I have to sand everything down, layers of primer ect as if I were to spray it anyway?

I'm basically looking for the easiest way to give my car a new colour as white gets dirty so quick its unreal, and also I have dents in my front wings, so when I get new ones the likelyhood of them being the same colour is very low so I would need to respray them anyway, also want to smooth a few bits over so would need to respray bits as it is...

I know a few people have done it and it looks good, would prefer paint with a polished look but cba for a proper respray as don't have that sort of money laying around..

    Thankyou, D

i have just done mine because the price of my car isnt worth a respray
i sanded everything down using a DA and i filled all my dents and my holes from the lock and filled my big dent in my wing
i sanded over it all to get it perfect and then i primed it
then flat the primer and primed it ............and so on then simply roll the chalkboard pain on

i think some people spray mattblack paint o9n before the chalkboard
    i didnt tho
i used a small foam roller and 2 tins of chalkboard paint
not bad for 14 quid lol

this pik isnt that good, realy sunny and shitty fone cam

tonto told me how to do it
theres a couple of threads on here about it but i think he sprayed matt black on first
that bit i missed out because i used grey primer
i have 12 tins of grey primer in my house so used them instead of buying black spray paint
this is monkey boys progress with his car he done it too

Thankyou! I will look into both of there threads tonight.

So do you have to primer it?
How far down did you sand? E.g. A light sand over the top or did you go right through the paint

Also, how is it to clean? I can imagine it being a pain, wouldn't oil/dirt sink into it and stay on it as there isn't a layer of protection?

    Thankyou, D

    I didn't primer mine.
Just sanded the original paint back. Degreased etc.
then rollered the Chalkboard paint on.
Flatted that off, with 1400 grit, cleaned it, Then applied another layer and Flatted that off so it was smooth.
Only used 1 tin so far. Which was £4+ Gonna do another coat or 2 though.
