Hi guys, ive only just joined this forum... but i did so with the hope to find out a lot more about Saxo's and to try and get some opinions on what to do from those who have been around Saxos for quite some time.
Ok so here goes.
Im 19 years old... passed my test on April 2009... but only been on the road since july 2010 due to illness.
Since this is my first year of driving on the road im currently in a 1.4i Honda Civic... 1997 ... its a minter of a shell and was bought with the intention of having a B18C4 (low compression head) dropped into it eventually... the 170hp one... to then have a turbo conversion done to it...
But after pricing this project up to the spec i had been wanting i realised it was a massive waste of money considering in the long term im wanting to build something else..
(and this was all parts being priced at Cost and having my Labour done for free as my Dad was a mechanic for RS and his friend has a Tuning Garage.)
So atm im still stuck with a 90hp 1.4 which is boring me once im out of 2nd gear
My friend recently got a Saxo VTR... a car that i had looked into getting as a first car but passed up on due to having a love for Japanese cars.
However, this VTR my friend had bought had been Turbo'd ... after about 30seconds of driving the car i fell in love and after about 30mins of flying around in it and absolutely wasting a Focus ST i had decided that based on its fantastic handling, nice amount of power and its fantastic ability to shock EVERYONE... i wanted one.
Now the problem im having is that im not sure where to start...
I know my friend will be selling his VTR Turbo in a few months but tbh its only a bolt on kit, no intercooler, just an oil cooler so id be guessing around the 150hp or so mark ? he claims 180 but im not sure based on the lack of stuff under the bonnet.
But id be looking for nearer 200hp+ if possible without spending 1000's upon 1000's ...
Do i just buy his and build on top of what is there...
Or do i buy my own and Convert it myself to the spec id be looking for?
Id definitely want it to be running a Turbo though.
Im also stuck on whether to get a VTR or a VTS?
I do apologise for the rather long winded thread but i was just hoping to allow you to see that i have very little knowledge of anything non-Jap or non-Ford... hence why i am so baffled on what to chase up on buying...
All i know is that id love to either buy or build a Saxo Turbo near 200hp

The reason im moving away from Jap cars for now is that im really wanting something fun, quick, smallish and unexpected...
I always liked the look of the Saxo but never took the time to drive one and realise just how much fun they are. Gutted i hadnt sooner.
