Steering Rack worn through Power steering pipe.

Having recently bought a lowered phase 2 vts my power steering has gone. fluid on the drive. identified the problem being the steering rack that has rubbed through the PAS pipe. I have been quoted £100 for a new pipe fitted, modified track arm fitted and fluid in. Does this seem reasonable? I was considering getting a pipe from the scrappers and fitting it and then bending it out the way. Problem is no scrappers round my way have vts in them. Is Vtr the same pipe?
    Thanks in advance.

Apparently a PAS pipe from a MK1 is a straight swap and doesn't come close to the track rod like the MK2 pipe. I'm assuming the pipes are the same regardless of engine.

Do it yourself mate, just done this on my MK2 last night, the MK1 pipe does clear the steering arm but not by much it needs to be twisted, its an easy enough job

If you need the part ask Chris from manic motors on here, username Manicmotors

+1 this is your simplest option, no point paying £100. I picked one up for £30 i think.
