    update ^^^^^^^^^^^^
  3. #3
    How does it get stuck?

You can get special sockets to take plugs off with that make it slightly easier
  4. #4
I bought a T-bar flexible 10mm spark plug socket from Halfords works well.

    Steve.
  5. #5
well when i put the socket on the wrench it cant get down there obviously, but when i put the extendable bit on push it down it hits of the bit ive circled yellow in this pic, i got the right spark plug socket, just this is blocking me from getting down there to take them out.

    not my engine btw lol

  9. #9
    anyone ?
  10. #10
Get a Really Long Breaker Bar, like a Half 1/2 inch with a step down, then Jook it real hard, and Pop will come right out.
  11. #11
i cant get anything like that down there mate the angle it is ets stuck i tried that first time round but failed so had to buy the tool above.

just googled and found some guide if one snaps saying wd40 down there leave it twenty minutes and use some extractor tool or something to pull it out sure i could pull it out with something else tho.

but am i good to wd40 it ?
  12. #12
Well you'd only find out if WD40 Works by trying it, Its not gonna damage anything. If you've got extension bars and UJ's getting to the plug with a Bar shouldnt be too hard imo.
  13. #13
coolio wasnt sure if i could lol just doused it will leave it 20mins and try get them out. will update hopefully having changed them all

    cheers mate
  14. #14

Dont understand, you say that you snapped the tool then say that you nearly snapped the tool? How can you snap it but nearly snap it?

If you want to get your spark plug out- use a spark plug socket with an extension of the RIGHT LENGTH and a socket wrench. Either a short extension so that it doesnt reach the inlet or a long thin one with universal [moveable] end, so that it lies against the inlet but doesnt twat it. Thats assuming you moved the breather hose out of the way anyway.

Spray with WD, the tool you showed is shit. Use a socket with bar. If you can get to it or get it out anyother way then take the inlet mani off

i tried using one off those there shit and cause more harm then good you need the spark plug socket a uj an extension bar around 5inch or so and a ratchet and easy as pie if youve snaped the head of the spark plug aka th bolt shaped bit then you can try alot of wd40 and an easyout tool if that dont work your probs looking at the head off really but as ive found out alot buy the proper tools an extra 20 quid will save you alot of money

Each to their own mate,i`ve got all the sockets for spark plug removal with the rubber insert inside and that didn`t do BA so bought 1 of those t-bar tools & it works a treat.

Ive read the title and is doesnt say anything about snapping the spark plug.

"well got the tool below all was going well got the first one out, then onto the next one and it wasnt budging so gave it as much pressure as i had and boom it snapped" You got the tool applied pressure and boom it snapped.

You have to get the right length extension like I said- you havent got one already, you have to go down to Halfrauds and get one. Do you think you are the first person to try to get a spark plug out??
  25. #25
Has the plug snapped in half completely? So there is no nut part?

If it has you have to take the head orf and take it down the engineers

if it hasn't, one I idea I had is to run the engine until hot and try agin!

Doesnt say anything about a spark plug.

"well got the tool below all was going well got the first one out, then onto the next one and it wasnt budging so gave it as much pressure as i had and boom it snapped," Thats sounds like you broke the tool.

How did you manage to get it out? I missed that part
  33. #33
got a shot of someone elses tools mines just couldnt get at it. and with me randomly asking the neighbour as he was jumping out the car, finds out hes a mechanic aswell sure that will come in handy
  34. #34
Before you jumped off the bridge you should have thought what a bastard it would have been if the thread had broken off in the cylinder head - which is what I thought had happened when I first read it

... and this is a good reminder to everyone that spark plugs should be tightened to 25Nm which is basically hand tight + a little pull on the wrench. Whoever did them up that tight in the first place needs sacking
