Sorry if it's a numpty question but what are "Oil catch tanks" all about?

    Is this a good thing?

    Do I need one?

I see that I can get a nice shiney one for not too much money and it'll look good next to my battery but what does it really do - or don't I need to know ?

    Ta

They're to catch the oil from your breather on the Rocker cover if you don't want it going into your air filter.

    Sounds logical - thx

Are they all much the same or are there good ones and bad ones?

    Where do they pipe into?

i think the main thing with catch tanks is the size of the inlets.
you dont want a smaller inlet connected to engine outlet as it may cause backpressure.
can pipe from the catch tank into your induction kit or into open air i think?

I have cable tied a Monster can to my old air filter mount and used some Silicon hose for the pipe lol.
