Video - Over 70MPH in 2nd gear?

    Heres a vid of my VTS ... are the dials majorly out or does have a different gearbox on it? It doesn't look like the limiter has been raised.

    Hmm, I had saw a thread about this a while ago, I said my 1.1 can do 100 in 3rd and I just got laughed at... I'll have to make a Video. And my VTR can do 65 in 2nd... I'm not sure about yours but isn't that a good thing? I personally don't care about speed, I'm more of a low end power freak but if you want speed, surely your car is what you want lol.

    I often use my girlfriend's 106 1.1 and there is no way on earth it would ever do 100mph in 3rd or even 4th. 100mph is basically the max of the car as it is.

    I know, that's what I mean... My 1.1 always seemed faster than other 1.1's but no body listened when I told them lol.

    Not really 'wrong' lol. But still the car is on a 52 plate with 50k miles, wouldn't have thought it would have had a gearbox changed.

    Could have been treated badly and had a broken gearbox, and had that replaced at some point... Unless you know the car from the start you never know how it's been treated...

    Dude, click that, go to the third one down, look at the vtr box.

    With a VTS limiter and a VTR box, top of 2nd is 69, which is more likely than your clocks being out by 17%

    everything standard? they're always going to be slightly out.

    aftermarket speedo of some sorts maybe? didn't they used to do laser speedos or something?

    Think i'm going to go through one of those speed cameras (not the ticket giving ones) that tell you your speed and adjust it accordingly.

    Hahaha that's not a bad idea, unless it's broken like the ones around here are...

    My mate found out if you go past one really fast they stay on and kinda freeze lol.

    presuming speedo is correct + you can check that easy with another car + both do 50 in top for instance.
    most likely is its a vtr g/box and as you vts revs another 1000rpm before limter that would be about correct

    VTR gearbox on a VTS will mean slower ingear acceleration due to longer ratios?

    yes but not by much and maybe it can save a gear change on a drag strip,all depends on the bhp you have.
    there was a famous vid on ssc years ago of a vts +s/c doing 170 on the A9--used a vtr g/box

    Possibly on a VTR box, when I ran my VTS engine on a VTR box it would touch 65mph in 2nd.

    I had just over 55 in my 1.0 in 3rd the other day before i got scared didnt sound nice think i could squeeze 60 if i had the balls. It is stripped out at the moment though on a leak hunt.

    Ragging the fuck out of the gears is likely going to cause the box and clutch to fail more often which means more expense......genius

    Just because your 1.1 does mach 3 in 1st gear doesn't make you any cooler, in fact it's likely compensating for a lack of something else...

    Most probably an 8v box from a Furio or a VTR. Mine does the same

    GPS will give u a good Mph reading, far more acurate than the clocks, once the clocks get over 100mph there are usualy a long way out

    My furio does that in 2nd too i should make vid as like you all say get laughed at. I was told saxo furio rev limter was at 65000 revs well on mine the limiter kicks in at just over 7500

    Ill make vid when got the time to go on a quiet road.
    I know my meant to have limiter to 70000 revs with chip but it at 75000 is this sign poor chip ??

    Ok ill do a trial of using gps and compare to clocks see how far it actually out. Should be good experiment as the car is still on steelies like it came out of factory. So clocks really sgould be correct.

    just for referance though, saxo clocks are piss poor and you can never guarantee the box unless you check the code, need to check my gearbox code tbh as my 98bhp is quicker standard then my ph3'd 90bhp with breathing mods, by a long mile infact-, but my old vtr read true near enough on the sat nav, this one reads 80mph when infact im doing 72mph on the twat nav- and this contests the accleration tbh

    Maybe true this, i was experimenting with mine yesterday, i know i can get 60mph in second out of mine just touching 6k revs before i ease off.

    Will be a VTR box mate, I know the clocks aren't the best in saxo's but check the code on the box, i would be surprised if it wasn't a VTR box.

    There is so many complain threads on here.....'my insurance has gone up'.....'my gearbox has failed again'......'I get shit mpg'
    Maybe if stupid little boy racers didnt attempt 100mph in 3rd gear then maybe thier cars would last a little longer and insurance prices would be cheaper because they didn't crash after driving like a bellend

    because it made you look/sound like a cock, you take things far too serioulsey mate, yes alot of what youve posted is "right", and yes it is a pretty daft topic, but in all fairness an issue was raised and promoted some serious answers.... answers which have proven to give quite a few ppl who've posted and probabably many more who havent, an insight into why their clocks could be reading wrong, admittedly alot of them will probably young drivers....who are trying out their car to see what it does... but none the less it was pretty much kept on topic for a change untill you posted what you did
