Ragged Engine

  1. #1
    Hi All,

I own a Citroen C2 Code and have been ragging it about a bit since I've had it. Now days the engine seems to sound like quite rattly and stuff. What is it that would cause this? Also, what kind of parts get the most worn out and that and would need replacing due to this driving style? thanks

It's probably less to do with the engine and more to do with the components around the engine dude.

bushes will soften/split. Driveshafts will eventually have enough of wheelspins, and ball joints will be tired of taking corners like an f1 car.

When you mean more rattly... can you describe in more detail?

+1 to adsayer tbf, will be less the engine its self and the components around it......
Cars only take so much before they decide enough is enough

Thanks for getting back to me so quick Erm.... its hard to explain, kind of like not as smooth as it sounded 10,000 miles ago. I can get a video for you tomorrow if that will help? So are those the kind of components i would want to be replacing then, thanks, how long do you think it would be until those parts would need replacing?

Caning your engine is not necessarily a bad thing as long as you do it properly.

Warm it up before moving off, especially in this frosty weather, it is a real engine killer to gun it from cold. Also keep supplied with new oil and filter every 10k. Servicing also includes tappets which will sound rattly if left too long, like you described and less smooth. It might be you fuked your engine and its piston slap and worn cams. Not much you can do except find a new engine.

Sounds like the tappets mate (Y)

Well 1st off sounds to me like the drivebelt either wants tightening or replacing. What colour is the oil? ie tea colour or black?

u didnt say it was a diesel
i would give it a service and have a look at the tappets and adjusting them if needed

also one thing i had a problem with on my saxo was the alternator,i think it was a bearing or something that was squeeling like mad

having somin similar in my 1.1 forte, apparantly it could be the water pump bearings goin which inturn could cause the cam belt to be out, or it could be piston slap!!
