Earths..??

Right, a few weeks ago my car packed in, turned out it was the battery, and the AA said it may be the alternator.. When he did the check to see how much it was charging, it was getting 12.8v with nothing but the engine on, and 11.2v with lights on..

So, i went to get a new battery, the old one was the wrong size for the car anyway.. And when i went to take the terminals off the old one, on the Negative side, the earth just fell out of the terminal..

So it got me thinking that the earth has never been that secure in there, and will have been wobbling and jiggling around..

Would that earth not been connected properly, make the charge test not come out right? Because im thinking a new terminal is about 58 quid cheaper than a new alternator...

Could very well be try it out and see if the alternator starts charging properley then. Always start with the simple things 1st

Would that cause low charge from the alternator though do you think? gonna try and get a new terminal tomorrow or monday, and get it checked monday hopefully
