ok cant seem to find anything on this but can you fit the 205 1.9 engine into a saxo and has it ever been done befor...

#2iirc the 1.9 only had 130bhp? so with there age and engine wear surly you would be better in the long run to put the vts engine into it? alot easier conversion tooQuote:ok cant seem to find anything on this but can you fit the 205 1.9 engine into a saxo and has it ever been done befor...

#3Been done before but as said above its not cost effective.
-
#5No idea why you would want to do it, a vts back in the day was faster than a 1.9
-
#6No it wasn't.
but why you would go to the effort of fabricating engine mounts and messing for such little gain?
Admittedly there gearboxs are a lot better but you can get them to fit Saxo's now anyway -
#7Vts IS quicker that 1.9 gti read the figures
-
#8LOL figures also say its quicker to 60 than a 106GTI...........
by a considerable amount.
dont believe everything you read -
#9I get ya point mate

#10cheers for the replys guys the only reason i was looking into it was my mate had a 1.9gti engine sitting arround that he was gunna give me. i obv realise that the vts conversion would be easier and yes they are (on paper ) faster. just wanted to try something different really

#11Different isn't always better!
You'd better off fitting the mi16/s16/306gti/206gti180 engine!
Same work - better results! -
#12The 205 GTI engine is quite nice. All alloy relatively light, strong gearbox, nice wide power band. The old 205 GTI is a really nice quick car. Most people would just stick the MI16 in though as it is similar weight but gets even more power and is better on fuel.
