Important! : Flywheel question....didnt match!!

  1. #1
    Hi all,
I bought a performance light aluminium flywheel for my Saxo VTS and it did not match my current one. On the box it came in it said C3 vts for the TU5J4. Is it meant to match the VTS? I believe mine is a TU5JP4. Is that why?
Also, Is the VTR flywheel the same as the VTS one?
Your views will be greatly appreciated.

    Anybody??

Is the bolt spacing pattern different for the clutch cover?
  4. #4
hi, yes the spacing is different!

buy a clutch off a later mk2 vts. Will fit then.

    Or just a clutch cover

So even if the pressure plate didnt match, it should still be able to replace the existing flywheel? Is that correct?
  8. #8
    Theyre interchangable.
  9. #9
    just change the clutch cover

if you got the flywheel brand new send it back and tell them you need the other one (either 3 sets of 2 bolt holes or evenly spaced!) if not then as said buy a new clutch cover will work perfect

If you just swap your standard flywheel for a lightened one will it make the car rum lumpy or be fine?

Cool. Do you reccon it would give you much of a performance increase with regards to acceleration? My saxo has fast road cams, 4-2-1 Piper manifold, k&n 57i induction kit and a full magnex decat exhaust system. Just wanting to know if it would be worth the bother?

Actually the flywheel i bought is larger then the pressure plate, when i put the pressure plate on it the holes which are 3 sets of 2-bolt holes were nowhere near. I know for sure that the chap who sold it to me said its for the TU5J4 but my engine is a VTS with a TU5JP4 head and made in 2002. Does that make it different?

Ok so you have a 2002 block?

The flywheel you have now is spaced 3 sets of 2 bolt holes?

3 sets of 2 bolt holes - pre 2000 (single plugged engines)

Evenly spaced bolt holes - post 2000 (triple plugged engines)

Lightening the flywheel effectively reduces the weight of the car but its effect is reduced as you go up the gears.

Have a look on Puma Racing's website for a detailed explanation.

    worthwhile? Yes.
