front suspension knock - third set of droplinks this year?

    hi all,

    i have a knock from my front suspension its coming from my drivers side.

    if you grab the car and rock it side to side you can hear it knocking.

    i have noticed a small rip in the drop link boot? but these were only new 6 months ago! this will be my third set in a year?

    what could cause this?

    do they need to be replaced in pairs?
