VTS Turbo Conversion?

  1. #1
    hi guys,

just got a few questions about possibly turbo charging a vts!

it sounds kinda noobish and stupid but is it really worth the work going into turbo charging a vts?
i would love 200bhp+ in such a little car but then i think the money spent doing the conversion (if possible) could go towards something which already has a bit more umpf behind it (scooby turbo 2000 or an Evo)

    thanks,
    matt

Depends really there's a sort of way of seeing it.

    Cheap
    Reliable
    Powerful

Most on here will tell you, you can only have two of the three.

Best place to start will be to go into the FAQs and check the two turbo threads done by user sophia_bush

im pretty sure out of those 2 i would have to choose the reliability and the power!
i know doing such a massive job isnt gonna be cheap, especially if its done properly!
myself i would only have the vaguest idea of where to start on how to do the conversion so i would have to take it to a tuning company recommended by you guys!

i just have one little niggle and that with having such a high amount of power going to the car upset the balance between power/handling!

i love the way my vts handles at the moment sitting on a full apex suspension kit & standard vts alloys but i just wanna have a monster sat under the bonnet

i hope so haha, dont wannt do the work and come when i take it to a track day get rinsed round by a scooby which would have probably cost the same as just the conversion let alone without buying the car! haha

the balance of the car wont be changing much m8, ur nt changing to a bigger heavier engine which would upset the balance of the car,
the extra power will make the car quicker therefore you would have to change your driving to equal this, getting to corners faster than u are used to so a brake upgrade u would benefit from.

    thats all very true

i think it might just take some time getting used to tbh, ive seen you have a turbo thread going on.
if you dont mind me asking what sorta ball park figure in £££ terms would you say i should set a side of a good conversion?

im nt turboing im charging, but they are pretty similar in pricings for decent setups.
for a good conversion i woulD say around 3000,4000.
can be done for cheaper, and vice verser. depends how much ur willing

One thing I will mention which should be obvious really but you also need to think about brakes, as while increasing power is great, slowing down you'll need to be doing a lot quicker as well.

You mentioned about getting a tuning company to do it, there's quite a few out there you can have a word with:

    CiTuning
    ATSpeed
    DP-Engineering (netherlands)
    Pug1off

They can provide some real decent advice. If you need any further help questions there's plenty of people on here, i was doing a conversion on my old VTS but had to stop due to personal reasons

Is it worh it YES it is a saxo with a real 200hp will put such a smile on your face and will give most things a run for there money, use to have a few fun races wih my mate in his 370hp evo6 and the saxo could pull from that,

Would i do it again tho? NO i would not, the amount of money i spent was well over 10k. I am building a 700hp custom r30 engine for my r32 gtr for less than that lol.

expensive game. if you can do a lot of work yourself you can save a load of money but depending on your skill may sacrifice finish and reliability.

its much more difficult to do a proper install than you may think.
