I have jsut fitted a manifold and strut brace and when driving my car to my dads house the engine management light came on and it went into limp mode. When I set off to get to my dads house there was this wierd tapping noise which got faster as I give it more throttle it does not do it at very low throttle. At first I thought that it was a blow in the exhaust system because when I had a blow in my catalytic converter it used to whistle at a certain revs. I could do with some help and some things I could check because I am trying to get it running perfect no blows no defaults nothing. please help
is this a blow or something else

#2did you fit a new gasket with the mani clean up where it seals etc to get rid of all the crap?
-
#3no is that the cause I have a blow from the mani
-
#4I have had a feel around the mani because my freind said he thought it sounded like it had a blow and we couldnt feel anything.
-
#5I would say more than likely, I changed my mani last week, cleaned up the head and mani with just a small wire brush obviously where they meet and fitted a new gasket (cost £3.25inc vat) and tightened each bolt abit at a time which will tighten the mani evenly. disturbing a gasket usually makes it useless 99% of the time so it is always best to replace a gasket if you ever remove anything that requires one. hth

#6just changed the gasket and didnt work what else could I try

#7first thing i'd do if i was you is to have it plugged in and pull up an error code to see why the engine managment light is on.
-
#8is it not cracked cause mine was blowing from the joint an then it just snapped, did ya plug eveything back in?
-
#9everything was plugged back in il have to check for a crack maybe sunday or monday and the management light is on cause of the second lambda sensor not sleevef and its picking up bad readings because no cat. But this is just a assumption
-
#10is it decatted or a poor cat fitted?
-
#11de catted
