Hey guys, Just fitted a brand new radiator and im still having cooling isues

Any other thought on wot it could be? Iv fitted a brand new thermostat also

have you bled it properly? Is the water pump ok? Could be the head gasket is gone and the system is getting pressurised and cooked.
  3. #3
yeah no air in the system. Not sure how the water pump is, are there signs that is had its time? and theres no gunk under the cap nice and clean =/

Let the car warm up buddy and then check the coolant top and bottom hose, you might have a blockage on either the hose's or the new rad itself
  5. #5
just pop them off and see if its pushing water out?
  6. #6
Flush the cooling system through until clean water comes through.

got to make sure it flushes through all the pipes including the heater matrix as mine was blocked by the heater matrix

as said let it heat up and check the system is not being pressuired *air/water will come out of the rad cap usually

So if it IS blocked, I shouldnt have anything flowing out when i take the rad cap off?

top the coolant up put the heaters on full blow and have it as hot as it will go if the top and bottom hose's on the rad are getting hot and the heaters are blowing worm you dont have a air lock or blockage in the system ....... next step head gasket ~!!!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned thermostat as that could be locking up.
  11. #11
he already said he'd replaced it,unusual to have two stats fuck up.
  12. #12
ill try another stat and see if its fixed my problem. It isnt half as bad as it was but still rising when giving it some beanz.

I really dont think it is the head gasket thats away as I've been having this problem for a while and havnt exactly been careful, still rip the beanz out it and there no cream and my coolant isnt dropping =S I've had a gasket go before on a rover a it just drank so much water it was unreal.

is the top hose getting hot? Is it a good coolant mix youre using?

Let it idle and see at what point on the gauge the fan kicks in, just in case the gauge is shagged and showing a dodgy reading.

no problem will do it tomoro.

I was just going to post, how come no one has mentioned the thermostat! Id check thermostat, see if the fans kicking in then bleed the system if needs be.
