knackered key..

Right. The one key i have (no fob, lost over the years i presume) is on its last legs. Somehow, not sure how, its been bent and i dont think itll last much longer.

How much is it a) to get a replacement cut and coded and b) to get a fob matched?

Can i just replace an immobiliser unit and get a matched key and fob?

Cant i just get a new key cut uncoded and swap the black bit over?

Don't they do them for £20 now just buy a citroën blank ? And swap them shits over

I'm sure there is a FAQ on here about this problem.

I failed at search. Too late now.

Can i just get one cut and swap the black plastics over though? I presume the transponder is in the plastic..

I thinks the actual key can be taken out, and the replace with the blank ?

Or just unlock the ECU by unplugging the imob box when its running. Then buy another ignition barrel and key for like £20 and plug it in, jobs a gooden Just your doors to worry about then... Buy a key off citroen for that, but dont spend the £80 or whatever on having it programmed.

So then do you just leave it unplugged?

    Seems too easy..

Leave it unplugged yarrr. that way if you key does fail unexpectedly, you can get a quick replacment ignition barrel and key and it will work straight away, alot better than waiting a week or whatever it takes for citroen to get the key made in france and then programmed for a price. Only problem will be locking your doors if the keys snapped in the 2 weeks wait for the fresh key.

I reckon if i nip into town i could get one cut without being coded for cheap enough. Unlock the immob box and jobs a good 'un.

Ive got a clifford alarm kicking about in the shed somewhere too..

Went into town and the key man only had keys for this that had no transponder, but he read my key successfully and said it would be £25 for a coded key. I got one without a code for a fiver just in case, ill just use the uncoded one with the coded one nearby for the ignition.

Least then its not say about with the immob disabled, theyre pretty easy to nick anyway imo i dont need it any easier for people. Good info though thanks.
