Been trying to get the gearbox back onto the saxo.. We have it all fastened but when the 4 bolts are tightened the box is about maybe 8mm from actually meeting against the engine it seems like the 2 top bolts they are tightening but its just not coming together we have trying alsorts but cant get it to come against the block what could be stopping it ?

    Cheers

    Trapped wires?
Have you looked all around it?
    Is the clutch on properly?
  3. #3
Yes clutch is bolted on... no wires obstructing

Should the box just slide in ?

Should do yeh, is anything stopping it at the back? Under the battery tray?

Possible that you've got a dowel in the wrong place!

    Dowel locater...same thing lol

what they said ^^ check there isn't 2 dowels, one on the gearbox and the block meeting each other
  11. #11
either dowels or clutch is not aligned properly.
  12. #12
as said either the dowels or clucth not alligned properly
  13. #13
I alligned using the centring tool and then placed the pressure plate against the friction plate and made sure it was all tightened then pulled the centring tool and looked in between and could see directly through the gap to the flywheel.. I will see about the dowels

    Sounds like the locator dowels.
  15. #15
Just check around it again, you'll see them.

Were just gonna split the box tomorrow slightly.. Not fully back off the engine and make sure the dowels are seating properly. Hopefully its just that as its a right b**tard of a job to do

When the friction plate is centred and the pressure plate fully tightened can that friction plate even move at all incase it has became shifted in anyway in not allowing the box to slot in ?

    And also....

How much can the engine actually angle without putting too much strain on the engines mount ?

    Cheers Guys

if the presure plate is tightened and torqued to the correct newton metres it wil not move, and as for the engine angling, it shouldnt go past 30* degrees, even thats kind of pushing it, common sense really bud, hope this helps
