Clutch or gearbox

   Good evening saxp
   Quick one for you. Having a problem with the car, all is well when driving in 1st and 2nd but in 3rd 4th and 5th its a different story. When accelerating in any of the higher gears it seems that the clutch is slipping, the revs increase but i get no extra drive.
   I have used google and someone has mentioned that it maybe slack on the clutch cable. The car is a 53 plate clio that my brother in-law owns which is well driven and only has 45k on the clock.
   All help is welcome.

   Sounds like the clutch is slipping due to it being warn.
   
   Is it difficult to engage gears or does it go into them easily?

   Nope feels fine to put it in gear

   Definately clutch slipping.

   If you can engage all the gears OK, then adjusting the clutch cable probably wont make any difference. Sounds like a new clutch is needed, 45k is about the lifetime of a cheap clutch..

   Last time i checked it was about £95.
