#3Does it crank over?
-
#4No does not crank when i turn the key it just makes a loud tick noise.
-
#5checked battery?
-
#6Yeah the battery is fine i checked it with a multi metre and a diffrent battery all the lights are working aswell.
-
#8check all earths are back on and clean
-
#9How many earths are there? i no there is the one by the fuse box under the bonet and there are the to on the gearbox?
-
#10thats it i think
-
#12ah right i have all the earths on then. the fuel pump does not prime but when it did it was a constant buzz.
-
#13this is the exact same as mine apart from my imob light does not come on.

#15Also should the power steering work on pre ignition? im sure mine did but it doesnt now.
-
#18It isnt an imob problem.
Id go with earthing problem. Or circuit problem between startmotor>alternator>battery and the earth on the gearbox. -
#19I have all the earthe leads on would a bad circuit between the stater altinator and battery cause these problems?
-
#20Make sure the earth is in a decnet place on the gearbox, sometimes they can be dodgy.Quote:I have all the earthe leads on would a bad circuit between the stater altinator and battery cause these problems?
Also check current going to and from the starter motor and alternator with a tester.
If theyre fine, then Id assume its a faulty starter motor. -
#21iv got the green and yellow earth and the black earth on the long bold on the gear box thats where they went before i took them off. also the starter is the same one and it worked fine before the swap.
-
#22Still check currents to be sure. Maybe even connect the earth to the negative terminal on the battery.
Check sensors are plugged up, sometimes faulty crank position sensor can prevent it from cranking over. -
#23if a bit of water was to get in any sensor would that cause it?
-
#24Maybe...Maybe not depends which etc. Try it tomorrow if you think there is some dampness.
-
#25also see if it bump starts, if it does then definatly start motor solanoid or something around there..
-
#26i did try and bump start it but didnt work its really annoying now havnt drove my car since november.
-
#27Then thats another problem unless you have a problem with your wiring or sensors.1 user thanked this post:
-
#28that click when you turn the key is the solenoid on the starter motor. It might have gone by coincidence [was it already on the new engine?] or it could be insufficient current- ie the leads to the starter motor not being tightened up enuff or a bad earth like db sax says
-
#29well i just spoke to somone who had the exact same problem as me and he said his was the wires on the starter.. and it was my starter mate.
-
#30The car is fixed now it was a wire that went to the starter not connected lol.
Thanks for your help everyone
