Here's a video so show what I'm on about:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USmFZteYkbc

Does anyone know what this could be?
It's been stood all over winter so has anything froozen up?

Edit: I've changed the battery and it still sounds the same...starter motor or worse?

1 your battery is flat and 2 that sound, sounds like the starter motor.

    Thanks for reply.
I took off the battery in the video and replaced it with my dads battery out of his vectra and it still sounded exactly the same

P.S - I've read alot of "car wont start" threads, and it states that if you cant bump it, then it's not the starter motor...just tried bumping it and nothing happened so is it something else?

Check the battery voltage first of all, see if it is close to 12.6v. If it is, check resistance from battery -negative to the engine to make sure there is a good earth.

When you say it's been stood over winter... do you mean it's frozen when it was like -10?

Did you try start it when it was frozen with no antifreeze in? If you did the timing may have slipped.

I always make sure I put antifreeze in over the winter period and last year was no different. I was driving it a day or so before the snow came and that lasted for a few weeks then once I tried starting it after that the above happened and hasn't changed no matter what I try How will I know if the timing has slipped?

If you have anti-freeze in and used it since then it probably isn't timing

Go down the lines of checking the earths first of all or remove the starter from the car and see how it turns over on it's own without trying to start the car - may just be warn, dirty or sticking brushes.

To check timing; unplug battery, take top timing cover off, get a mate to turn crack over slowly clockwise (22mm bolt) by hand until you can put the lower flywheel locking pin in (6mm, 1 inch bar or half a drill bit). Then have a look at the cam pulley at the top - if the timing is ok then you should be able to fit a 8mm bar or drill bit through the hole into the cylinder head. If you can, then the timing is ok.
