Battery flat??

    Driving home from work and my dash lights went dim then got in the car park at home and the pwer steering went and lights went off then it cut out so i jump start it and the dash lights and everything are fine until you turn the steering wheel then everything dims??? it wont start if you switch it off either. Its an 02 vts. The battery light wasnt on but when i jump start it it was on but then went off.

    get a voltage test done, and get your alternator tested, halfords should do this for free. Or ask any local garage to do it, they do it free at garage near me.

    Iv asked my bro as he has one but hes not at work hes home now! It will have to sit there for a few days, iv got the battery on charge at the moment.

    Sounds like a typical alternator fault to me, but as said the only way to be 100% sure is to have it tested. Get looking around for new or second hand prices though while you wait

    scrapyard..20-30 quid
    (if u have problems finding a saxo alternator, then theres a fair few other cars that have the same alternator.. it took me ages to get one n i ended up matching a VW polo one!)

    Found the cause! turns out a wire had broken going to the alternator so i have repaired it and its charging fine, its charging just over 13volts and should really be charging 14v but the alternator is 9 year old as it came off my old 1.4 engine and was the original one from new!!
