Important! : Timming

I have just bought a ph3 camshaft for vtr, how do you about timmming it up with adjustable pulley? & is bet to leave a little bit more space for the tappets/vaule clearence? Cheers.

I'd use your original pulley to set it to standard timing (using the locking hole), then carefully swap it for the vernier pulley. Adjust the tappets to what Newman recommend.

If you have access to a DTI gauage, you can then adjust the timing to give you the lift at TDC Newman recommend for that cam. Either that, or leave it at standard timing and have it adjusted on a rolling road.

It already had the Adjustable pulley on mate it's had alot of head work done just wondering on how to time it up and tapper clearance cheers

Unless the adjustable pulley and head have been marked with tipex or similar to show where TDC is, you're going to need to fit a standard pulley, lock everything off using the locking holes, then fit the adjustable pulley again.

standard pulleys not going to get the best out of the cams though really, bit like a one legged man buying a racing bike

As I said in post 2, lock flywheel, use a standard cam pulley to lock camshaft, switch the standard pulley for the vernier (make sure it's at 0 adjustment), fit your belt. Then adjust timing via the vernier - use a DTI to get the correct lift at TDC for that cam, or pay someone to adjust timing for you on the rollers.
