Handbrake not staying up

   Hello!
   
   When i apply my handbrake on the car, i push the button in, pull up and release the button.
   
   However, when i release the button, the handbrake just 'falls' back to the floor.
   If i was to pull the handbrake up without pushing the button in, so it clicks, its fine?
   
   Any ideas what this could be? Anything major?

   sounds like the rachet is jamming so its not catching when you release the button. Or thats what i would think was the problem

   not sure, my usual method is to think what it could be then rip it apart sure someone else will come back with a better way to fix it but thats what it sounds like to me

   Its either the ratchet mechanism or you need a new handbrake cable.
