Important! : Sand paper - confused?!

  1. #1
Hey guys, im in the middle of spray painting my interior and im thinking of spraying the bottom part of the doors (where everyone seems to put there rubbish, or map/atlas) at the moment the material is "bumpy" so, I know I need to sand paper it down, i have been told the grit grade should be 400, then 800, then 1200. Iv searched this on ebay and found a fair few things on there, the description says "for use on metal" does this mean anything would it still be okay?

    Cheers guys!

atlas ? fuck you must do some mileage

wet & dry is what you need mate not sandpaper use those grades you listed and apply primer before paint and you should be fine

Wet and dry paper is what you need to use, before you use the paper leave it soaking in a bucket and when sanding keep soaking the paper in water(stops it clogging)link http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...k&iozone=PLPz1

depends what your after mate, i sanded mine really lightly, then sprayed it, to keep the original texture. alternatively, give it a good go with some heavy sanding, then as lewis1234 says, put a tiny amount of filler and smooth it down. make sure u get every bump that you can see out, cos any rough bits will be even more obvious when u put the paint on. just have a go mate, worst case scenario ur scrappy will have loadsa saxos you can pinch em from!!

actuali mate, if its plastic like bumpers he needs to be using scotchs ideal, will take longer but doset mess the plastic up,

p500... plastic prime, then normal primer, 4/5 coats sand it down with 600/800 be fine.

Some of the worst grammar I've ever encountered! Amazing!

I'd personally go with the wet & dry paper.

Cheers for the insult and the opinion at the same time.
