as above, wanting to do a bit of diy, iv heard air filters are pretty simple, anyhting else?

Back box? Strip out the back lol And as you said airfilter
  3. #3
    decat, decent filter, strip it
  4. #4
back box wont improve performance but like lee said filter decat and race tube and you'll notice a difference

Depends on your definition of the term 'easy'

You want an induction kit, not just an air filter.
An air filter to replace your current air box will just suck warm air from around the engine which might reduce performance.
Engines like cooler air so an induction kit will draw cold air from the front, near the radiator

I would get one of them first, tbh you will barely notice a difference
People think they make a difference to justify in thier heads the price of one but, if you want to believe something you will so dont expect much

A full exhaust system would be better but this probably isnt a DIY job unless you can get the car above you and you get a system which is a straight on fit
A decat is fairly east to fit but depends on the tools you have and if you are mechanically minded

Get a haynes manual would be an idea I reckon
To be honest mate, a decent induction kit, decat and straight through exhaust will likely cost you £500+ and will get you 'maybe' 5-8bhp extra and thats being generous

A nice manifold, cold air feed and induction kit, a nice straight center section and backbox... You'll be fairly happy

If you don't want to spend loads you could weld up yourself an exhaust system, like I did on my other Saxo lol.

    manifold straight through decat.
    easyiest. 5-10 bhp roughly.

"16v" sticker on the back - well known "cheap high performance" mod .... lol

An induction kit, as mentioned, is not expensive (loads on ebay) and will add a bit more oomph however it can change enormously the noise the engine makes to a much deeper roar and will also convince you and other around that the car is much faster. I started with a PiperX induction filter on the VTR (only cost about £30 inc. postage off ebay) and it certainly sounded quicker - add a decent backbox (Racelands are not expensive) and it'll finish the look/sound,cheap performance mods

contact these companys via ebay and give them your make and model and they'll have the parts shipped out for you all for a tad of £200 i had all these bits on my first vtr and they made a noticable difference

    O dear

The best thing to do would be to throw it in the bin imo.

decat is the best value for money. 50 quid and a few bhp

strip out the car rear seats, all carpets, passenger seat, all plastic covers, dash, abs, power steering pump, electric windows, put some stickers (nos, 16v, turbo) ... take out all stereo system, head unit, air con (if u have) but best thing is .... change the gasket between steering wheel and drivers seat

    Oh dear............

Seems like you may have wasted your money my friend
Do a search on the forum for 'chip' or 'ebay chip'

There's no such thing as a free lunch

Performance modifications cost money, the more power you want the more money you need to spend.
Some people spend 5-6 times what thier saxo is actually worth to fit a Turbo setup...........I wouldnt do it but some people do
