Modify stock air filter and intake

  1. #1
    Hi all,

    After a year and half of a 1.0i Saxo I've finally got a VTR, it's only a 1.4 but it's nippy.

I've been looking at replacement air filters such as K&N E-2868, i had a look under the bonnet and found the air intake tube has a little bottle neck where it's fixed to the engine, so I'm wondering if i replaced it would it have any adverse affects?

um........a 1.4 vtr? plus a pic of the engine would be a lot more useful

could be an import or this person may be foreign were vtrs r 1.4s

the best induction kit would be an enclosed ie bmc, green

or you could put a better filter into the orginal system

na hes got either a westcoast or furio as the imports could be vts 1.4 - 1.6 16v not vtr's

As far as i know it's an import.

This is what i meant about the bottle neck, just thought about replacing that bit plus a new K&N air filter.

ah totally understand now.....I cant see that modifying it would cause any adverse effects, just depends what you want, as you will see in many threads, go for open cone if you want noise, enclosed for less noise and slightly better performance....

it wont make any diffrence as it wont supply anymore r less air into the engine

Fair enough, Just wondered, saw a couple of 1.6 VTR engines and they just have a straight through pipe.
