HID's - Light's temperamental

Have noticed that my offside headlight doesn't always come on when I turn the lights on. The car is fitted with 6000k HID's, I've not ever got involved with these before so looking for some pointers.

Are the bulbs just standard fit into the headlights themselves, just taking a feed from elsewhere ?

Is it likely that it's going to be a loose fit lead or bulb or are there problems with HID fitment ?

Are you turning the headlights on before you start the car? mate of mine always turned his HID's on before he started the car and offside light didnt work, turned them on after its started and was all fine.. This is because it only uses one of the headlight connectors.

I always turn the car on before putting the lights on

It could be just a loose lead or bulb or something, so will check them out this weekend.

However, how easy are they to remove?
I didn't put them on as they were there when I bought the car, would all original wiring still be there or would it have been cut away or removed ?

Pretty easy to remove if you look there should be a plastic electric connector block (if there the same as the mk1's) with wires from the ballast ( little metal box) just unplug them, the 3 slots are what your original bulb plugs into

my hid's on my bmw done that sometimes i had to turn them off then back on for it to kick in.

saw some man at thurrock gettin his cooper checked over by vosa for his lights 1 wasnt on he started tapping the lense then it came on so think its quite common

Sometimes you have to remove the relay

But I would disconnect the whole lot and switch them around plug and play
Check the bulbs also coz they damage easy

Gonna take the lot out and go back to orignal lights, much less hassle and I rarely use the car at night
