How do i get a new key? mine were stolen

  1. #1
My Car keys recently get stolen and I now no longer have a key to get into my car. Is it possible to contact a dealer and get a new one even without having a current key? if so how much would it cost?

i have all ownership documents etc so proving i own the vehicle is not a problem. Thanks!

go to a citroen dealership and take all that stuff with you and just explain the situation

    Steal them back..

I would have though you could go into a Citroen Dealership with all the relevant docs, etc. And make sure you've got a copy of your engine, chassis numbers etc.

You will need V5, a photo ID and a bill with a name & address on it.
Most places will ask for this for proof of ownership. You dont need a key as the dealer can get relevant codes.

My advice to you though, if the keys have been stolen would be to replace the full lockset.

Why get another key made up when someone is running round with one that will fit your locks. Dont wanna wake up in the morning to no car do you

You can get full lock sets from scrappys mate
Or try dealer if you want for that to

As I said in my post mate, V5 (logbook), photo ID and a bill and they will do it.

Will cost £140 upwards, depending on the labour rate of the dealers. Key needs coding in.

From a dealer I would imagine £200 upwards plus fitting.
From a scrappy though, could be anything. I picked one up for £25, that had everything in that was required.

Either way, its cheaper than the car going walkies

i guess all sounds soo expensive and i dont have alot money as im a student. I dont want to buy a new key if someone has my old key so im not really sure what option im going to take

i think your best bet would be go to a breakers and find a saxo and get all the locks required and swap them for yours and get the key reprogrammed to your immobiliser, would probably cost you less then £130. most expensive bit would be getting the key programmed.

You cant recode a coded key. You would need to either have an unlocked ECU or the ECU from the original keys' car.

The best option would be to get a full lock set + key + ECU from a scrap saxo. You should be able to get the lot for £50 or £60.

Then find a garage to fit it all for £100 or less.

If you don't get 2 keys, then have a spare made for around £20 (auto locksmiths).

Never let your key get stolen again.

Tried to get a spare key for the VTR (2001 model) last November and evetually got word back via the local delaer that Citroen France were no longer supplying keys for this car - not sure if they were full of BS or if its true - any thoughts?

if you are insured with adrian flux they offer something called keycare £14 a year on top of your policy, covers every key on the set inc house etc. if your with them it may be worth asking if you had it on your policy?

You have to steal a saxo key off someone else without them knowing. Its an on going cycle, the person you nick it off then has to nick some keys off another person and so on..

Citroen get them from france so a few poeple have done recently on here, also not too expensive to recode:

Least then its not say about with the immob disabled, theyre pretty easy to nick anyway imo i dont need it any easier for people. Good info though thanks.
