Important! : Engine Management Light

  1. #1
    Hey

Cars thrown a few problems at me this week.

Anyway. since i have put my induction on my engine management light has been on and it doesnt go off.

Also around the same time a fuse blown for the cd player and the fuse in the back of the cd player had blown. dont know if it has anything to do with it but happened around same time.

Anyone know if ive done something wrong ?

All i done was remove old filter. put new one on attached the arm with a bolt and that is it. have i missed something ?

    Cheers

Did you move/unplug any sensors when you did your induction kit?

    Steve.
  3. #3
no but i did unplug the plug that comes from the manifold when i painted the manifold heatshield ?

Lambda sensor, the sensor in the manifold

    thats your culprit mate

    Quote:
Automotive oxygen sensors, colloquially known as O2 sensors, make modern electronic fuel injection and emission control possible. They help determine, in real time, if the air fuel ratio of a combustion engine is rich or lean
hence your engine management light being on, its not getting readings from its sensor

so what because i took it off its set the light off ? how do i sort it ? have i done something i shouldnt have done ?

either get a blank for it, or reconnect it

not really done anthing wrong mate, also happens when people de-cat their cars, it just means the ECU isnt getting a reading of the emissions going into the exhaust. If you leave it unplugged, as that line says, it helps the engine determine its air:fuel ratio, so your car might run a tad shit

no i plugged it back in, once i put the manifold cover back on ?

Hmmm... Only thing i could really think is that it'd need changing, but it was fine prior to removal.

is it seated propperly? (daft question and dont want to be ignorant, but gotta ask these things )

sealed properly ? i pluged it properly back in if thats what u mean

im absolute new to all this so no offence takin bud

it was fine prior to removal. im trying to get hold of my mate hes got that launch reader thing see if he can come down after work.

Hmm, then im not entirely sure mate sorry about that only thing i could really suggest is trying a new sensor all together

it isnt unheard of, that induction kits can cause lambdas to blow so to speak, not sure how accurate that is, but ive heard it alot on here

aye a hope not ill see what this reader says later on and update here later. if he ever answers his bloody fone that is lol

    aye heres hopin
