god damn car boot (not latching at all)

hi guys,

problem: my boot does not latch. i cannot lock it. it is completely free to move up and down as it pleases. this includes when i slam it, when i try locking it with key, when i try using central locking in driver side door.

what happened: i smashed my rear view window. before this my boot worked fine. after the smash my boot worked fine (working fine = latching on when shut, meaning i have to press the boot button to open, locking/unlocking also worked correctly), it was only when the autoglass repair man came and fixed my rear view window did it completely stop working.

what the repair man did as far as i could see was. take the panel off covering the rear wind screen wiper motor, remove the motor so he could remove rear window, then put it all back after the window was put back in. and then it all just stopped working.

now i dont think its electrical, as it doesn't even latch when the boot is closed. its like the latch is not operatable at all.

any ideas guys?

at the mo im using duct tape to seal shut

See that metal rod(top right of pic)its meant to be connected check to see if the other end is connected up.

I had a similar problem when my dear friend smashed my rear window by closing the boot HARD... My problem then was that a small piece of glass got stuck somewhere in the lock - if I remeber correctly, somewhere inside the mechanism in you third picture.

Take a close look at it if all levers seem to be connected to the right places.

fixed, there was glass in the latch (the bit that is on the boot lid that clicks into place to the bit on the car)
