Hot engine.

   Hi all,
   When putting my foot down in my mk2 vtr the engine temp rapidly builds up, but as soon as i take it easy it cools back down again to about quarter way up the temp indicator, as i am planning on making this car a track car this is begining to become a problem. Has anybody else got this problem? Is it possible to fit a bigger radiator from another car onto the saxo as this would help keep the engine cool.

   The temp gauage isn't very accurate at all. As long as it doesn't reach the top and illuminate the warning light, I wouldn't worry about it. How high does it get?

   The gauge should sit around half and raise to 3/4 max really before the fan kicks in to cool it down. Track work may be different but for 99% of normal/spirited driving
   
   Have you tried a new thermostat? Wont do any harm..
   
   The VTR rad is the same as the vts iirc? If not... you can try the vts but thats really covering a problem, since it shouldnt be doing it on the road really.
   
   Try a new stat, temp sender, flush the system and put fresh coolant in see how that goes on.
